Bennett Material Handling has always been leading the industry in innovative material handling solutions. This a feature article, June 1974,which converted a fleet of LPG forklift trucks to the very long running Baker/Linde electric sit-down. With the industry leading 48 Volt and the very large drive and pump motors, we were able to run a 10 hour shift even with heavy duty carton clamps.
The fleet eventually grew to over 50 units. We also were instrumental in eliminating pallets in the warehouse and a surprising side effect of this conversion was reducing employee absenteeism. This was an industry leading accomplishment forty (40) years ago today!
